Attendance and Lateness

Attendance and Lateness

It is vital that every child comes to school on time every day, as we know that good attendance leads to good progress.

We believe high levels of attendance and a punctual start to the school day are important to all children. Our aim is to ensure that every child has access to the full time education to which they are entitled and as a result succeed and thrive. We endeavour for children to take responsibility for their own attendance, recognising the link between attendance and good learning.

Our school gates open at 8:35 a.m. and close at 8:45 a.m. Registers are then taken in classes. Children arriving after this time will be recorded as late. Children arriving after 9:20 a.m. will be marked as absent and this will be recorded as unauthorised.

To promote good attendance, we have adopted the Local Authority Attendance HERO campaign. This campaign not only tackles the importance of good attendance for academic achievement, it also addresses the barriers that prevent this, including anxiety and mental health.
